The shuttle is a popular service that receives a high volume of calls. In order to make everyone's experience as positive as possible, please get familiar with some rider etiquette:
- When calling the phone operator, please state your pickup location, dropoff location, and number of riders.
- Sometimes drivers will receive 10 or 15 calls in a row, from all different corners of campus - please be patient if there is a delay in your pickup! Note the time you called, and if the driver isn't there by five minutes after the ETA you were provided on the phone, call back to check in. We do not log your information, so you will not be contacted when the driver has arrived.
- Remember: Please do not provide a home address to the operator unless it is easily accessible along the route; even so, you may be asked to walk to a nearby easy-to-find landmark location.
- Important: The driver will not stay at any location for longer than two or three minutes! It is your responsibility to keep a watchful eye for the shuttle's arrival. In the event that you miss your pickup, you will have to wait until the shuttle has completed its current drop-offs before it can circle back around for you.
- If you no longer need a pickup after calling in, please call back to let us know. The driver will still go to your pickup location to wait for you - "ghosts" set the shuttle back quite a bit.
- Please no belligerence or substantial noise on the shuttle. The driver and jumpseat need to be able to hear the radio for incoming pickups.
- DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BRING OPEN CONTAINERS ON THE SHUTTLE. EVER.
- This is a one-strike rule. If you are found with an open container on the shuttle, you will be asked to leave immediately and other drivers will not let you on in the future.
- Why is this such a big deal? If a driver is pulled over and an open container is anywhere in the passenger area of the vehicle, the driver could receive a DUI and infraction despite being completely sober. It is illegal for passengers AND drivers to possess open containers while in the vehicle, per Ohio state law (and most other states as well).
- There is absolutely, positively zero tolerance to this rule. Your drink is worth astronomically less than the livelihood of your hardworking student driver.
- This is a one-strike rule. If you are found with an open container on the shuttle, you will be asked to leave immediately and other drivers will not let you on in the future.
- Passengers who are too intoxicated to function/move properly will not be picked up by the shuttle; S&S will be called to ensure they receive adequate medical attention. (No, they will not be in trouble.)
